New year, new beginnings

First I'd like to apologize to all of my customers and followers for not being on here as much as I should be. In the beginning of December, I lost a good friend and neighbor to a stroke. It was very unexpected and has really hit me hard. Annie was only 48 and 5 hours prior to this happening, we were laughing and carrying on as we always did during the day. I feel like I have been in a nightmare for the past few weeks. I love and miss her badly.
With that being said, the death of my friend has opened my eyes in so many ways and the most being that tomorrow is never promised. I plan on throwing myself back into doing what I love which is making primitive dolls. There were times when my friend would come into my craft room and trace doll bodies for me. I think I have been avoiding my craft room for that very reason.
It's time for me to put on my big girl panties and get back to doing what I love. I plan on doing give a ways again on my facebook page so add me!

My husband of almost 24 years and I renewed our vows on Saturday the 29th.
The day my oldest son was supposed to get married but postponed it.
I was surround by the people that matter and we had a great time.

I am so sorry I have not updated in awhile.
My husband and I are renewing our vows on the 29th and I have been very busy.
My son was supposed to be married on this date but they postponed the wedding. I spent a lot of money on the wedding for them and figured "why not use it for us"? Plus we wanted to have a halloween party so we are having a costume wedding. I will be posting pictures on my facebook and video too. I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't fell off the face of the earth!

Breast Cancer awareness Raggedy

Good Morning!
I have been in my craft room since 7 this morning sewing.
It feels so good to be back doing what I love to do.
I created this raggedy this morning and in a few, I am hoping to venture out and find more pink fabric and ribbons so I can make more. She is 15" long with a hand stitched face and stiffened floss for hair. I have her on my facebook for now but keep checking my selling blog. I will post there when I have more. A quick note...

It's been a rough week

My father in law passed away August 3 and we just buried him yesterday.
It's been a very busy and emotional week for the whole family.
I am so ready to get back into my doll making to keep my mind off of other things that are going on around me. The fall season is approaching fast upon us and I have some cute doll ideas dancing in my head that need to be created.
I do have some items for sale on my facebook page from when I cleaned out my craft room. If you have a minute, please take a peek. There might be something you can use!

I have been cleaning and organizing my craft room so I can get started selling again.

Good Morning everyone!
I know I have been gone far too long...with working full time, I didn't have any energy to do what I've always loved doing which is creating primitive dolls. Some of you I have known since I started my online venture in 1999 and I see a few new faces. I plan on offering my handmade dolls on my selling blog, Esty, and Ebay.
I will start doing weekly give always which were always fun. Fall and Christmas will be here before you know it and I look forward to sharing my Raggedies, Pumpkins, and Snowmen.

It's been awhile since I've updated. By the time I get home from work, I am too tired to function. On the weekends I try to do things around the house and recently changed a few things in the living room to make it more "springy". I also got a NEW kitchen floor put in. My first love will always be primitives but doing what I do every day has made me want to have my house less cluttered and easier to dust. (I work for Molly Maid)

New curtains, tossed pillows, and braided rug on clearance from $99.99 to $20.00 at Target

Oak mantle was found here for $16.00 at the same store I found the fan.
I LOVE Marcs...you never know you'll find.

I found this fan at a discount store here for $59.99. We looked it up, it retails for $230.00. I had been on the look out for one of these since I seen it in a customers house last summer. I LOVE it!!

What would you do? I need help with outside Christmas decor!!!!

I have been doing the same decor outside for the holidays for the past 10 years. I need new ideas!!! I normally wrap the porch in pine garland with white and red lights and I have large peppermint candy lights that hang from the garland. I also have an alpine tree that sits on the porch that I decorate and place presents under.
I place lights on my weeping cherry in the front and on my picket fence. I have a set of 2 snowmen that sit in my flower bed that alight up. I need something different that will make people say "WOW".
I keep candles in the windows all year round. So ladies, what you would do??? I normally decorate thanksgiving weekend so I need ideas ASAP!!!

My husband made this corner fireplace for me last fall. I love how it fits in this corner perfectly!!

My husband is one to go looking for treasures on garbage night. He found this for me and I love it!! I didn't have to do anything to it but clean up the spider webs and get out the old musty basement smell out.

I have to start by saying I apologize for not updating in quite some time. My job is very tiring and by the time I get home, all I want to do is sit.
However, I did manage to update my wallpaper border and added some wallpaper to the lower half of our eating area. A local craft store had a 40% off sale and I couldn't resist making a change. You can view my "before" pictures HERE

I picked these up today at a local place that sells plants and all proceeds go to the Cancer Society.
These were $1.oo a piece so I bought three. The problem is it says Angelonia on the container but when I looked it up online, it's not the same plant. I just love how this looks and for a buck, I don't care of it doesn't come back. But I would be thrilled if it did!
Can anyone that gardens help me out and give me a name of this plant?

I am in need of some help.
My husband pulled out my bushes and tilled the ground for me today.
I need some gardeners help.
My "green thumb" never kicked in and I have no idea what to plant in this space.
I am completely clueless and open for suggestions.
Behind the fence is english ivy.
I would like plants that come back every year.

My husband found the picket fence in the trash and it hides our air conditioning unit.
He made the bird feeder from a post we had from our old four post water bed.

This is the corner of my house in the back. He found the wheel barrel in the trash. I normally buy 2 hanging petunia baskets and cut the handles off then place them in the wheel barrel.
He made me the bird feeder from an old spindle and rusty pan.

When we bought the house 11 years ago, I only had a concrete stoop.
He built this porch and the also put on the roof.
He refused to have a porch without a roof.

Here is a set of chairs he made last year for us.
I love them!!

Every porch needs a swing right???
He also made the mustard bench, the salt box house, and our address numbers.

Vanity BEFORE...I have had this normal vanity for 10 years.
It was time for a change!!

My husband has been laid off for a week now and has been wood working.
I came home from to work to this!
He painted it cranberry, sanded, and stained it.
He also put in shelving which the other did not have.

Another view..sorry my bathroom is so tiny and it was hard to get a picture from the front.
My doors are 2 pine boards with a wooden knob.

I bought this cranberry chest at a wholesale show 6 years ago for $12.00.
I figured I'd give it a make over.

I painted it beige sanded it and added the SIMPLIFY stencil.
This sits at the end of my bed...I love how it looks!!

My $2.00 Dollar Tree Project ~Primitive Candle & Base"

Good Morning!!
I would like to share my $2.00 Dollar Tree project.
~CLICK THE IMAGE TO SEE IT BIGGER~
The wooden candle stick was white. I painted it black, added a coat of modge podge and while wet, sprinkled cinnamon. I let dry then added another coat of modge podge.
For the candle, I printed out the word I wanted then traced it on my candle with a stylus. Then engraved the words. I then painted the words black and on went a coat of modge podge. After it was completely dry, I used Deco Art walnut stain to make it look old.
This is for decoration purposes only but you can surely make a hole in the center and use a battery powered tea light.
I think modge podge is the best thing ever!!!

A day in the life of my kitty

This is my kitty Bella.
She has a thing with my printer, stuffing, pens, doll bodies, thread, paper..anything on my work table. It's a wonder I get anything done. I had to make her a doll body just for her to drag around. We got her at 4 weeks old she was found under a car at my sons job.

When she first came into the house, my dog Cali wanted to eat her. Now they are best friends..how cute is this picture??

I have such a busy afternoon today but quickly wanted to tell you about my selling blog.

I started it because I am finding alot of people do not do Ebay/Etsy so I'd like to offer some items here as well. I started selling doll bodies on Ebay and they are going over well so I am offering them there too. Just click on my icon to the right to take you there. As promised, a peek into my kitchen

My husband made the star shutters and the mustard corner cabinet.

He also made the saltbox house night light that is on top of the corner cabinet.
The doll was a gift from Twigs.

He is one that likes to garbage pick and found this old stove...and it works!!

When we bought the house, it had a BRIGHT blue marble counter top and back splash.
We covered the counter with ceramic tile and did waynes coat as a back splash.

I was a longaberger collector once upon a time.

This old scale belonged to my father.

Twigs gave me this tobacco ladder and the rusty kitchen items when I went to see her one year.

My husband also made this shelve that holds some redware pieces.

My intention was to place them on my wall but they wouldn't stick. So...I placed them on my mirror above the couch in the living room.

I have a crackled finish on my walls.

My husband made this chimney cabinet from wood he picked up garbage picking.
It's really tall and my bathroom is so small I couldn't get a picture of the front.

I picked this up during the holidays at Gaberial Brothers.
For the price, I figured I could re-do something with it. I completely forgot I had this until today when I was cleaning my craft room. The pictures are like wrapping paper.
My question is:
What would YOU suggest I do with this?

I would like something primitive without changing the frame. I love how the wood is without me touching it. At the top of the frame are hinges (not sure if you can see)

Peek into my bedroom

Good afternoon everyone!!
I was asked to post more pictures of my home so here is my bedroom.
I wanted it to be shabby and a relaxing place to retire for the night.
And..the hubby doesn't mind the pink!! Enjoy~Liz

Above my bed is a window that we removed the glass from and I did a crackle finish.
We then placed chicken wire behind it, nailed on some old rusty square head nails to hang items, and I stapled on a pip berry swag full of spring colors.
Sorry it looks so wrinkled...took it out of the dryer and threw it on the bed!

My kitty Bella loves to sit in the sun on my dresser.

We also own two big dogs and on the floor is one of their pillows.

I have bought many Bath & Body works anti bacterial soaps over the years along with lotions and shower gels. When I have used up an anti bacterial soap, I rinse the pump and place it on a lotion or shower gel.
They have to be trimmed about an inch and they will only work on the signature series bottles. This is so much easier then tipping the bottle.
So ladies, save those pumps!!

Please be patient with me as I navigate my way around all of this blogging!! Once I get the hang of this, I will be offering FREE patterns as I did with my website.
I am looking forward to getting back in the wonderful world of primitive designing.

The rabbit shown is "SNICKERS" the pattern is available as well as the finished doll. She is very easy to make as with all my designs.
